NEXT STEP: While the Limestone Coast Women's Football League is over, players from the region will head to Victor Harbor to contest the South Australian Women’s Country Championships in July.

THE South East Zones women’s football squad was announced this week, as the team prepares to compete in the South Australian Country Women’s Championships on July 10 and 11 in Victor Harbor.

Each competing zone must nominate 24 players, who are all eligible to play in all scheduled matches.

The team will be coached by Mundulla’s Michael Hunt, with assistants, Kalangadoo’s Darren Ousey and North Gambier’s Fiona Young.

Kybybolite’s Mel Hutchesson will take on the team manager role, while trainers are Mundulla’s Coleen Hunt and Penola’s Alex Lambert.

Training begins this Sunday, April 2, from 11am at Penola.

As would probably be expected, reigning Limestone Coast premiers South Gambier have the majority of players named, with seven to represent the Demons.

Kybybolite is also well represented with six players, while Mundulla has five named.

With some of the best players in the region named, the team should prove a formidable force.

All seven players were instrumental in the Demons claiming the premiership and will no doubt play a huge role in the SE side’s success.
