ROAD resurfacing works have started to improve a 3.8km section of Jubilee Highway East and are expected to be completed by the end of July.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure started the first stage of works between Penola Road and Pick Avenue on Monday.
Work will be undertaken in two stages, between 6.30am and 6pm each day, Monday to Saturday, while some Sunday work may be required.
“It will involve the closure of the eastbound lanes on Jubilee Highway from the Penola Road roundabout and are expected to take two weeks, weather permitting,” a department spokesperson said.
“During this stage, light vehicles will be detoured via Penola Road, Wireless Road and Kennedy Avenue as well as Penola Road, Commercial Street East and Pick Avenue, while heavy vehicles will be detoured via Penola Road, Woorolong Road and Glenelg Highway.”
The second stage of work between Pick Avenue and Dohle Road will be undertaken following completion of stage one.
Speed and lane restrictions will be in place throughout all roadworks on Jubilee Highway, with signage and traffic management to advise of changed conditions.
The $5.1m of priority pavement reseal and rehabilitation works form part of the $250m Princes Highway Corridor Strategy, which is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments.
