Council seeks Tarpeena residents’ input on proposed Whitington Square purchase

GRANT District Council will undertake community consultation in the relation to a parcel of land located at Whitington Square in Tarpeena.

This follows council receiving an expression of interest to purchase the road reserve and community land.

Council will start public consultation on a proposal to revoke the community land status of Lot 36 Whitington Square as well as the closure and sale of adjacent road reserve.

The community land parcel is about 2400 square metres and the area of road reserve is about 1200 square metres.

Both areas are undeveloped and currently maintained by council.

If the parcel of land is sold, the stormwater drainage network that exists on the property will need to be retained.

Council has made no decision on the request and will further consider the proposal once the community consultation period has closed.
