Teacher recognised in parliament

ARIA nominee and Grant High School music teacher Scott Maxwell has been recognised for his outstanding efforts in State Parliament.

Independent MP Troy Bell acknowledged the Mount Gambier resident as one of four nominees for the 2018 ARIA Music Teacher of the Year Award.

Mr Bell told the house Mr Maxwell had been notified of his nomination by award-winning artist Guy Sebastian – who recently visited Grant High School – and if successful would attend the coveted ARIA award night.

“This is an outstanding achievement for an outstanding music teacher,” he said.

“You only have to go to one of his musicals, which he writes himself.

“The music program at Grant High School would be the envy of many public schools.

“I give due recognition to Scott Maxwell and the music curriculum he has developed at Grant High School.”

With the award night in Sydney on November 28, people across the Limestone Coast have been urged to back Mr Maxwell by voting for him online.
