Launch party to extend racing celebrations

LEGEND of the Lakes Hillclimb is back for another year with Koonara Wines hosting a launch party at the Rail Lands tomorrow.

Koonara Wines’ Dru Reschke said the family-friendly event would extend the racing weekend’s celebrations.

“Legend of the Lakes is a premier racing event, so we are supporting it with a premier celebration of food, drinks and live music,” he said.

A number of the weekend’s racing vehicles will be on display, giving people the chance to see them up close – and stationary – before they blitz through the Valley Lakes precinct over the following days.

“The hillclimb attracts visitors from around the country – we want to provide the opportunity for everyone to get together before the action begins and make the most of this awesome warmer weather we’ve been having,” Mr Reschke said.

A number of food trucks will be on-site, with gluten free and vegetarian options available.

Koonara Wines will be available by the glass or bottle, with The Cide Project catering to beer and cider lovers.

“As usual we’ll have our $5 polycarbonate Koonara glasses to keep, but if you’ve been to our events before and already have one be sure to bring it along to reuse,” Mr Reschke said.

“There will be face painting and games for the kids, so bring the family, friends, a picnic rug and chairs – we will bring the party.”

The free event will run from 4pm to 9pm.
