Pontoon to feature at Portland foreshore

A SWIMMING pontoon will soon be a feature at the Portland foreshore after a proposal received over $30,000 in State Government funding.

Nominated for the Pick My Project initiative, the proposal was voted as one of the most popular ideas for the Great South Coast region, collecting 355 votes.

The pontoon will be located at the far end of the foreshore and will provide an active recreational element to the precinct.

The project was nominated by Future Leaders of Industry and the Glenelg Freeza Crew and was the only project in the Glenelg Shire to receive funding from a list of 35 local submissions.

Glenelg Freeza Crew member Jesse Covill said the project would encourage greater use of the foreshore precinct.

“We are ecstatic that this project has been selected to be funded, we believe it will offer a safe and open access activity space aimed to get kids outside and being active,” he said.
