NOMINATIONS for the Green Triangle Timber Industry Awards (GTTIA) have been extended.
Due to officially close last Friday, the GTTIA committee has extended the closing date until August 31 as it felt forestry companies were just gathering momentum and needed extra time to get behind the inaugural event, which has attracted extensive industry support.
“The inclusion of significant companies all backing the sponsorship of this event has been overwhelming,” GTTIA chair Adrian Flowers said.
“If you know of a person or company within the timber industry that deserves to be awarded for their performance or contribution, then do not delay, go directly online to complete the details required,” he said.
The nominees and winners will be celebrated at a formal dinner held at The Barn in Mount Gambier on October 26, which is expected to attract over 300 people.
Comedian and television entertainer Tommy Little will be the master of ceremonies.
Tickets are on sale now through the GTTIA website.
The Green Triangle is home to Australia’s largest collective plantation and timber processing industry, contributing significantly to Victoria and South Australia, generating more than $778m gross regional product annually.
In excess of 355,000 hectares of softwood and hardwood plantations produce timber for local manufacturing, national and export markets.
The industry underpins around 8500 regional jobs and provides a valuable foundation for businesses and investors.
