A PORTION of the wooden fence in front of the Robe Hotel which was erected over a year ago should immediately be pulled down, according to a Robe District Council member.
Councillor David Loxton said this would give an unrestricted view of the coast and the coastal path would be pedestrian use only.
His views are contained in a formal notice of motion which he has submitted to tonight’s monthly council meeting.
“The majority of concerned people feel as there previously has been no fence, they would prefer the no fence option,” Cr Loxton said.
“The view is of historical and tourist importance and the safety issue can be accommodated in other ways.”
According to the agenda, there are items of correspondence supporting his stance.
