Foodie festival to showcase regional produce

AUSTRALIA’S top eating and drinking festival will showcase premium produce from the Limestone Coast this April.

This year’s Tasting Australia itinerary features more than 140 events across 10 days and 11 regions, with the new Tasting Australia Airlines offering an all-inclusive, full-day luxury experience for guests to explore South Australia’s significant culinary regions, including the Limestone Coast.

The event carries a $550 price tag and has sold out, with a waiting list created.

Taking guests into the heart of the region to the famous Mayura Station, renowned for uncompromising quality and truly delicious fare, industry icon and Tasting Australia patron Cheong Liew will be on hand with Mayura owner Scott de Bruin.

The pair will share the secrets of what gives their full-blood, chocolate-fed Wagyu beef the ultimate wow factor.

Australian wine columnist Nick Ryan will curate wines that will satisfy thirsts for more regional flavour.

The iconic food and wine festival, which will run from April 13 to 22, will be led by chefs Simon Bryant and chef Jock Zonfrillo with industry legend Liew as patron.

“It’s always exciting to see the public get out into the regions and meet producers, try new ingredients, sample different wines and share their experiences during the festival,” Mr Bryant said.

“We are all about people, place and produce and this year’s incredible program shows that.”

The Limestone Coast will host five events during Tasting Australia including This is The Limestone Coast, a decadent lunch that will combine wines from five of the region’s leading wineries, as well as three events at Hollick Estates, including a degustation luncheon that will take diners on an eight-course culinary journey through the region.
