FORMER Southend resident Kasey Chambers has become the youngest inductee to the Australasian Country Music Roll of Renown.
The 41-year-old singer/songwriter was announced as the 2018 inductee at the Golden Guitar Awards on Saturday evening which were the highlight of the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival.
A commemorative plaque was unveiled on the rock outside the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre on Sunday morning.
Originally a member of her family’s Dead Ringer Band, the Rendelsham Primary School and Millicent High School old scholar has since released eight solo albums and won 22 Golden Guitars.
Her solo career began in 1999 and her 2017-released album called Dragonfly was awarded this year’s Golden Guitar for Best Alternative Country Music Album.
Ms Chambers was last back in her home district a few weeks ago and attended the funeral of her paternal grandmother Judy Chambers.
