Bang for Bell’s buck

Independent Member for Mount Gambier Troy Bell will receive $8,000 of Liberal MP Mitch Williams’ unused Global Allowance of $41,000 for the 2017/18 Parliamentary year.

The outgoing Member for MacKillop wrote to Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis on January 3 seeking the transfer of his unused funds, which can only be transferred between sitting MPs.

The allowance is generally used for communicating with the electorate, with clerical assistants, equipment and asset purchases, and phone and photocopying expenditure in excess of the State Government’s monthly limit charged against the allocation.

More details next week.
