Blaze at Tantanoola during catastrophic fire danger

COUNTRY Fire Service volunteers promptly extinguished a small grass fire on the outskirts of Tantanoola at 4.20am on Saturday.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated by police.

The blaze coincided with a catastrophic fire danger rating for the Lower South East.

Millicent Police stepped up patrols of forests and other areas while the Canunda and Beachport national parks were closed.
