Pasin calls for more rural MPs

THE absence of rural Liberal MPs in federal cabinet has recently been highlighted by Member for Barker Tony Pasin.

Mr Pasin expressed his hopes for representation from this sector in the forthcoming cabinet reshuffle.

“We have made it clear to the leadership team that we want to ensure the most senior decision making table in the country, cabinet, includes representatives with a connection to rural, regional and remote Australia,” Mr Pasin said in his public commentary on the matter.

“I’m confident the concerns we have expressed have been heard loud and clear.

“There’s been an increasing connectivity between the leadership team and the rural Liberal caucus in recent months.”

The electorate of Barker last had a cabinet minister almost two decades ago when Ian McLachlan was Defence Minister from 1996/98.
