Fallons bring Christmas cheer

CHRISTMAS CHEER: Sandy Fallon is ever on the look-out for more Christmas decorations. Picture: J.L.”FRED” SMITH

CHRISTMAS cheer is again being spread by Millicent couple Bob and Sandy Fallon.

For the 17th year in a row, they have superbly lit up their house with a variety of lights to mark the Christmas season.

The home is located on Stewart Street, near the McArthur Park Kindergarten.

Every square metre of the front yard becomes a kaleidoscope of colour from about 8.30pm each evening with decorations on the roof and shed as well.

The couple has won past years of a competitive contest for householders known as Millicent Lights Up! and later Let’s Light Up Locals.

As before, their light show will continue into the new year.

Ms Fallon said they are glad to bring enjoyment to the community during the festive season.

She jokes that every year has been the “last time” they would put up their displays.

“We are getting close to have been doing it for 20 years, but will keep doing it for another few years,” Ms Fallon said.

“Our 17-year-old grandson helps Bob with putting up the lights.

“We have added a few new displays this year.

“It is all about bringing joy to people.

“It would be good for younger people around Millicent to also put up Christmas lights.”

Each year the Fallons notice a spike in their power bills which coincides with their Christmas lights.

“I will be a bit worried this year as the cost of electricity has gone up,” Ms Fallon said.

Other houses and businesses across Millicent and district are also in the festive mood including the former Mount Burr Mill.
