State Government trainee workshops

MOUNT Gambier and Wattle Range Council-based trainees last week participated in a capability workshop to help them take the next steps in their careers.

The training session, which is part of the State Government’s $4m Regional Youth Traineeship Program, was held in Adelaide and included discussions on essential career skills such as resume writing and mock interviews.

Regional Development Minister Geoff Brock said the program had helped to provide sustainable employment opportunities in regions across the state.

“Strong regions mean a strong South Australia and the Regional Youth Traineeship Program is a great example of the different levels of government working together to create vibrant, sustainable communities with a skilled workforce,” he said.

“These capability workshops in particular help give them the vital skills needed to secure future long-term employment in the regions.”

The Mount Gambier and Wattle Range trainees were among 114 from across South Australia aged between 17 and 24 who attended the session, with further participants from council areas including Berri Barmera, Kangaroo Island, Port Pirie and Tatiara.
