Library connects students with experts

SCHOOL students are encouraged to use their Mount Gambier Library card to access online study tool Studiosity, formerly known as YourTutor.

The service provides study help when students need it, including assistance with essay and report writing.

Live help is also available for subjects including writing, mathematics, science and economics.

Subject specialists are online between 3pm and 10pm from Sunday to Friday.

“When you are stuck on a tricky study question, or can’t bring yourself to re-read your draft essay for the seventeenth time, don’t stress,” library youth services coordinator Terasa Nearmy said.

“Simply log in to Studiosity for free with your library card and there will be a friendly subject specialist waiting to help you out.”

The “connect live” service at www.mountgambier.sa.gov.au/library provides one-on-one, personal help in real time.

“A student formulates their own question then works with one of the study experts in the interactive classroom – with chat, a collaborative whiteboard and file sharing,” Ms Nearmy said.

“This is important, as we know timely feedback drives confidence and perseverance.”

The “writing feedback” service provides constructive commentary in less than 24 hours.

“Feedback is a spotlight, showing students where they might focus attention and add more thought,” Ms Nearmy said.

“English language skills are critical to success and part of the integrity of a university or high school qualification.”

For further information on the service contact library youth services coordinator Terasa Nearmy via email at tnearmy@mountgambier.sa.gov.au or call 8721 2579.
