Renewable energy funding

THE State Government has called for applications for funding support for the next generation of renewable energy projects as part of its $150m Renewable Technology Fund.

The fund comprises $75m in grant funding and $75m in loans or other forms of investment for eligible projects to support private innovative companies and entrepreneurs.

Investment guidelines have been released and the call is now open for projects that will deliver clean, reliable and affordable power through renewable generation, bulk energy storage or bioenergy.

Premier Jay Weatherill said South Australia was firmly positioned as a world leader in renewable energy technology.

“Now we’re looking for the next generation of renewable technologies and demand management technologies to maintain our global leadership,” Mr Weatherill said.

“We want to support innovative companies and entrepreneurs in a state that is nurturing cutting-edge technology.

“I can’t wait to see some of the exciting projects which are accelerated as a result of investments from our renewable technology fund.”

Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis said the state had an opportunity to create investment and jobs in the renewable energy space for generations to come.

Applications are open until September 28, with successful applicants expected to be advised before summer.
