SATURDAY’S Science Alive event doubled as a drawcard for community members to explore Mount Gambier’s state-of-the-art Main Corner Complex.
Science Alive representative Brian Haddy said he had many families say they had not visited the building since its redevelopment.
“It is a bonus if events like this can bring families into these facilities,” Mr Haddy said.
“This year’s event began an hour earlier than normal and we have had a steady crowd through the doors.
“I would say we would have reached the thousands again this year.”
Mr Haddy thanked the community for supporting the event.
“The South East community always seems to support our events which is great to see,” he said.
“I was a bit worried the Mount Gambier Christmas Parade and other events would have had impact on our numbers.
“There might have been a bit of family outing fatigue and one event could have been enough, but it does not seem to be the case.”
Sponsored by City of Mount Gambier and Beach Energy, the free event featured the SciWorld Spectacular Science Show and Animals Anonymous native animal display as well as Dr Quark’s Scientific Circus Show.
