HUNDREDS of school children and community members assembled at the historic Rook Walk overlooking the Blue Lake to celebrate its centenary on Tuesday.
The 10ft stone wall and three lookouts comprising the Rook Walk were built in a single day in 1918 during the largest working bee in the city’s history.
Descendants of namesake Arthur Rook (who spearheaded the project) and Eleanor Warren (who designed the Rook Walk with Margaret French) attended the community event.
A plaque was unveiled commemorating the milestone and a time capsule will be buried at the site.
