Mount Gambier Library ‘Nature Play’ Event

CHILDREN embraced their senses Thursday when the Mount Gambier Library held a nature-inspired sensory play session.

The workshop, held in partnership with the Mount Gambier Toy Library, offered state of the art interactive displays for children aged under five to enjoy.

“We want people to understand that you do not have to spend 200 or 300 dollars on a toy when we have it here for you to use,” Mount Gambier Library children’s services development coordinator Kelly Lynch said.

“This session invited children to experience their seven senses in a unique way, enhancing their learning and development.

“If parents notice something the children enjoy, for example two dollar shaving cream, we hope they might bring the idea home with them to try,” she said.

With spices hidden in ice cubes, homemade play dough and a walkway filled with all different textures, all children involved had a thrilling experience.

School holiday activities continue this week.
