IN TOWN: Millicent bank officer Robert Courtney welcomes Bank SA chief executive and Westpac state manager Nick Reade to the George Street premises.

A MILLICENT bank has recently made a positive impression on leading Adelaide businessman Nick Reade.

The Bank SA c h i e f executive and Westpac state manager also made whistle-stop visits to bank branches at Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Bordertown, Naracoorte, Mount Gambier and Kingston.

Under various names and at two locations, Bank SA has had a presence in Millicent since 1939.

Mr Reade chatted with Bank SA staff Robert Courtney and Brooke Holmes at the George Street branch.

“It was a valuable opportunity to hear firsthand from our people who serve local customers every day about what was happening in their towns and region, particularly with the recent impacts of COVID-19 and drought,” Mr Reade said.

“I also took the opportunity to talk to customers and hear how they were managing in the current environment.

“It is always valuable to clear the diary, get out amongst the regional communities and understand what’s happening on the ground.

“It’s been a tough time for many of our communities, with the impact of drought and the economic effects of COVID-19, so it’s important to visit our staff who work so hard supporting our customers.

“It provides our people with the opportunity to talk directly to us about any issues, ideas or input they have and for us to better understand how we can help them and these communities.”

Meanwhile, new chapters are being written in the life of the Millicent Bank SA branch and its former manager Rosie Gore.

As part of a statewide restructure, the bank has moved to a multi-site management model.

Millicent now comes under the oversight of Mount Gambier manager Christina Thompsell with Ms Gore’s position made redundant.

With a background in the hospitality industry and wide experience in office administration and financial services, Ms Gore had joined the staff of Bank SA over seven years ago and was promoted to the manager’s role in 2015.

Meanwhile, Bank SA has recruited a junior staff member to support Ms Holmes and Mr Courtney, but trimmed the Millicent branch opening hours.
