BAKERS Delight threw open the doors to its new Compton Street store yesterday morning, signalling a new era for the business after 26 years at its James Street site.
The popular Mount Gambier business has joined She’s Apples Market Mount Gambier at the expanding retail hub which flanks the multi-million dollar Coles and Aldi developments.
Pleased with the fresh storefront’s visual appeal, Bakers Delight franchisee Amanda Jensen is excited to welcome residents and visitors alike over the long weekend.
Ms Jensen said the decision to relocate would help the business capitalise on foot traffic from the neighbouring supermarkets – which it sat adjacent to at its former site – as well as the new Aldi store.
“We thought the foot traffic from Coles would be in this area now so it was just a decision we had to make,” Ms Jensen said.
“We have worked with and alongside She’s Apples Market for 26 years and it is something which we did not want to change.”
Ms Jensen said customers had overwhelmingly embraced the new store, which also features a direct indoor link with She’s Apples Market.
Apart from losing power at lunchtime on Wednesday, Ms Jensen said the transition was smooth.
“We have taken all our staff with us, so it is a fresh start for all of us,” she said.
“It really is just business as usual in a new location.”
