Playground work deal

Wattle Range Nature Playground TBW Newsgroup
SUPER SLIDE: J&M Shanks owner John Shanks is congratulated by Wattle Range mayor Des Noll and council’s engineering services director Peter Halton on winning a tender to supply and install a 10.5 metre slide at the Domain nature playground.

MILLICENT engineering firm J&M Shanks has won the tender to supply and install a 10.5 metre fully enclosed slide at the Domain nature playground.

The stainless-steel slide structure will come off near the existing cubby house on the hill and add another element to the long-awaited play area.

Wattle Range mayor Des Noll welcomed the use of several local suppliers and contractors to complete the project.

“The slide will be one of the last major components to be installed, followed by landscaping and tree planting by council’s staff and finally some seating to be added to the area to balance the play component with relaxation and reflection,” he said.

“Once all of the works are completed a risk assessment will be conducted and the play space will be independently audited, to ensure that it has been built to Australian Standards.”
