THE Rotary Club of Mount Gambier has given an important donation to the city’s aged care sector in a bid to save lives.
The club has donated a defibrillator to Boandik, which has installed the lifesaving equipment at its new Community and Wellbeing Centre in Mount Gambier.
This facility houses a gymnasium, office spaces and the region’s first hydrotherapy pool.
The defibrillator was previously located at the club’s Rotary Community Market, which recently shut its doors.
Rotary Club of Mount Gambier president Kathryn Weddell-Lucas said she was thrilled this equipment could be given to Boandik to safeguard its clients who used this new facility.
She said the club quickly arranged a new home for the medical unit and chose Boandik due to its mission to provide care and support for the community’s most vulnerable.
Welcoming the donation, Ms McGinty praised the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier’s generous donation.
“It is fantastic it has provided this medical equipment to Boandik,” Ms McGinty said.
She said Boandik had foreshadowed purchasing a defibrillator for the new centre, but had no allocation in its budget.
