WELL-KNOWN Millicent resident Alan Rolfe has taken on another major role after being inducted as the Probus Club of Millicent’s new president.
Mr Rolfe, who is instrumental in organising the Geltwood Festival Market and Lions Family Fun Day, was inducted at the Probus Club’s annual general meeting.
More than 20 Probus members attended the meeting to welcome the new president and board members.
Mr Rolfe encouraged community members to maintain healthy minds and active bodies by joining the club and participating in activities.
He said Probus was not a service club, but a club of older, retired citizens “who want to continue get out and about among like people to enjoy friendship and company in a pleasant group”.
“Each meeting is supported by two speakers, one a club member giving a short talk on their life or favourite hobby and the second a local person with an interesting or topical story to tell that provides an insight of the local activity to people who are very interested,” he said.
“There are tours around local areas, businesses or attractions every few months to provide members with an expanded interest in their locality.
“There is the opportunity to take tours to distant parts of our great country or even overseas.”
