THE history of the Country Fire Service (CFS) has been immortalised in print thanks to Naracoorte’s Rex Hall.

Launching his fourth book during the opening of the South Australian Volunteer Fire Fighters Museum, Mr Hall said the concept developed during the 20-year research project.

The book documents the history of the CFS and key people who led it, while also highlighting the development of the museum over the two decades.

Mr Hall said publishing costs had been met for the book, allowing all profits to be directed towards management of the newly-opened museum.

“All comments received on the opening day were overwhelmingly positive,” he said.

“The museum and the book will keep the CFS alive and help the future generations learn about its history.”
