Search for missing fisherman scaled down

Police search efforts for a missing fisherman off the coast of Cape Jaffa have been scaled down after they were unsuccessful in locating the elderly man this morning.

It follows the tragic discovery of deceased 84-year-old man Ian Harding, who was located with the boat, which capsized 9 kilometres off the Cape Jaffa coast on Tuesday.

The boat was able to be recovered from the water this morning and will be forensically examined as part of the investigation.

Despite an exhaustive search of the area, there has been no sign of the 72-year-old man from Kingston SE and the search has been scaled down.

Families of the man are aware of the update and police will continue to monitor local conditions and patrol the coastal area for any sign of the missing man.

It is believed the boat capsized while the men were involved in the retrieval of a cray pot.
