Wine sale funds bottled to support fire victims

Tash Gordon And Matilda Innes TBW Newsgroup
SHOWING SUPPORT: Patrick of Coonawarra’s Natasha Gordon and Ottelia’s Matilda Innes discuss fundraising ideas to support fire victims across South Australia.

TWO Coonawarra wineries have joined forces to support fire affected communities by donating profits from wine sales to the cause.

Patrick of Coonawarra will donate 50pc of its online sales to the Australian bushfire relief, with Ottelia donating 20pc of all wine sales during January.

The two wineries were passionate in the decision to show support to those in need across South Australia.

“It has been so horrific on social media lately that when I came back from holidays I decided we needed to do something,” Patrick of Coonawarra’s Natasha Gordon said.

“Friends and staff as well as our distributors and acquaintances across the board have been very supportive with an amazing response.”

With all on board for the fundraising venture, Ms Gordon said it was not about how much they raise but the intention behind it.

“It is small compared to what some people have raised or donated but at the same time every little bit helps,” she said.

“We are all part of this community and care about what is going on and if we were in their position we would need help.”

Ottelia’s Matilda Innes echoed Ms Gordon’s comments, adding she felt passionate about fundraising having a personal connection to the situation.

“We have family and friends in Gippsland and in New South Wales who have been impacted,” Ms Innes said.

“Hearing from them and knowing they have the cars packed up and ready to go with some already back from evacuating, it made us feel a little helpless.”

Both wineries will raise funds until the end of January before deciding whether to extend the promotion.
