Cracker of a surprise

Bendigo Bank Sorrentos Winner TBW Newsgroup
WELL-DESERVED WIN: The Border Watch general manager Dennis Jackson, Sorrentos Cafe and 5290 Bar and Function Room co-owner Lachy Mutton, Christmas Cracker weekly winner Sandra Murrell and Bendigo Community Bank customer service officer Alisha Stephens.

SANDRA Murrell was one of two lucky recipients who received a $500 cash prize as part of the Bendigo Community Bank $8000 Christmas Cracker after buying a barista-made hot beverage from Sorrentos Cafe.

Ms Murrell said she supported the competition as it added a well-deserved boost to the region’s economy.

“It helps get the economy going, although I think Mount Gambier is going alright as it is,” she said.

“I know I own a business and we are going well, but I do not know about others in the region.”

Bank customer service officer Alisha Stephens said the giveaway was a great way to encourage people to shop local.

“It is fantastic to see the community is really getting excited and backing the giveaway,” Ms Stephens said.

“Our core business motto surrounds giving back to the community and investing in the community.

“The fact people are already doing it by shopping local is absolutely amazing. ”

Ms Stephens said everywhere she went, she could hear people talking about the giveaway.

“The signs and boxes are everywhere and when customers come in, they are asking for the entry forms,” she said.

“It has been well received by the community.

“We normally do something similar every year to promote shopping local, but I hope we do it again next year around the festive season.”

Ms Murrell said she was speechless and surprised when she found out and would put the $500 towards a holiday to Canada.

With next week being  the last of the competition, four winners will be drawn each taking home a $500 prize.
