UNIVERSITY of South Australia student Natasha Little has been awarded with a special commendation for regional impact from the university in recognition of her volunteering services across the Limestone Coast.
Ms Little, a business student from UniSA’s Mount Gambier Campus, has been applauded by both her peers and the institution for her selfless community work.
Her community involvement includes volunteering at local schools, the Mount Gambier Fringe Committee, Generations in Jazz Festival, North Gambier Football Club and “At the Ark”, an event dedicated to recovery from child abuse.
The commendation, which was part of the university’s volunteer of the year awards, also recognised the student’s commitment to helping mature age students enroll in classes.
UniSA regional manager Ian McKay described Ms Little as a “great advocate for the campus and for our community”.
Ms Little hopes to undertake an internship after graduating and apply her knowledge of tourism and events to the Limestone Coast, where she sees more work to be done.
“By learning more about tourism and event management at UniSA, I have developed a passion for wanting to get more involved and to bring more events down to the South East.”
Ms Little hopes to “reinvigorate music in the local area” by inviting national acts to bring their performances to town.
