Students receive new school shoes

Red Cross At Nangwarry Primary School TBW Newsgroup
GENEROUS ACT: Red Cross volunteers Helen Medhurst and Roger Whitty admire the gifts donated to the students with Nangwarry Primary School principal Erica Hurley.

NANGWARRY Primary School students have recently been treated to a generous act thanks to Red Cross Limestone Coast and a Mount Gambier retailer.

Red Cross Limestone Coast regional manager David Walshaw said the students received $2500 worth of Ascent school shoes after a number of children were identified as requiring support.

“These shoes retail for about $139 a pair and the children were naturally thrilled to receive them,” Mr Walshaw said.

“The shoes were donated by a friend of mine – Paull Smith – who has the Mount Gambier Athletes Foot franchise.

“We also provided them with handmade pillowcases to decorate their beds and beanies all handmade by Lynne Stupple from Millicent’s Live and Learn Craft Group.

“This is what makes us get out of bed in the morning, to see the joy on young students’ faces as they received a brand-new pair of school shoes.”

He said the shoes were fitted by long-term Red Cross volunteers Roger Whitty and Helen Medhurst.

“We will be working with the community to deliver other vital services,” Mr Walshaw said.
