EXHIBITORS of the indoor sections at the 143rd Millicent Show are reminded their paperwork must be lodged by tomorrow.

Completed forms must be submitted by 4pm to the new show office at the Gordon Memorial Oval.

It is the second consecutive year the Millicent Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Society has brought forward the deadline for entries.

The annual event runs from November 8 to 10 and is generally regarded as Millicent’s number one social occasion on the annual calendar.

Millicent Show Society treasurer Bev Copping said the entries were steadily coming in, with strong interest to date in the children’s sections.

“The Blokes Choc Cake baking contest will also be popular as we are already expecting entries from Member for MacKillop Nick McBride, show society committee members Neville Copping and Klaus Emmerich and local Country Fire Service firefighters and ambulance officers,” Ms Copping said.

“The showgrounds are looking really good.

“We have repainted the iron sign with the name Gordon Memorial Oval.

“Thanks to the efforts of the Millicent Lions Club, we now have a new office in what used to be a store room in the number two hall.

“The Lions provided nearly all the materials and labour for the office.”

Meanwhile, dozens of roses are expected to compete for a $500 prize for the most outstanding rose.

It is the 10th consecutive year McCourt’s Garden Centre has made a $500 voucher available to the winner.

Among the popular events to return for the 2019 event are the demo derby, a display of unique cars, fireworks and ride-on lawnmower races.

There has been a change in starting time for the demo derby as it now starts at 1pm on the Saturday.
