REGULAR readers are streaming into the Millicent Lionesses’ new bookshop location in the IGA building due to its user-friendly layout and wide variety of texts.

Lioness and bookshop coordinator Ruth Stratford said some of the more popular texts were books on art, poetry, war, history, classics, the royal family, religious texts, dictionaries and children’s books.

“The shop is the same size as the former one but we have found that people can move around and browse easily in here,” Ms Stratford said.

Ms Stratford said the central location of the bookshop meant it had some curious new browsers come in and regular customers continued to buy from the Lioness initiative.

They also had a radio segment once a month advertising books and a table out the front with some selected reads were frequently visited by shoppers.

DVDs and CDs were achieving regular sales and Ms Stratford said it was encouraging to see the children’s book section become so popular.

“We have kept a lot of customers as well as seeing some new faces,” Ms Stratford said.

“It is just amazing the amount of people who will come in.”

The sales from the bookshop go towards the Lionesses’ charitable endeavours and it is open from 10 to 4pm on Fridays and 10 to noon on Saturdays.
