RISING Essendon AFL star Mason Redman returned to his former primary school last week to pass on football skills and share his journey from Millicent to elite level sport.

St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School Year 4-7 students took part in football clinics with Mr Redman, with the former Millicent resident providing an insight into student leadership and how students can achieve their goals through a positive mindset, commitment and teamwork.

The Reception to Year 3 students also had a question and answer session with the young Bomber where they had the opportunity to have items signed.

“It’s been very rewarding,” Mr Redman said, having attended the school from Years 3 to 7.

“I know when I was younger how much it meant to have someone like an AFL player come in and spend time with you – it’s been a real privilege to be invited back to my old school.

“I’m glad that I have been able to have an opportunity to give back to my community.”

Currently enjoying an off-season break, Mr Redman said he had returned to the region to spend time with family and friends.
