Seniors celebrated as community urged to nominate leaders

Mick And Peter TBW Newsgroup
NOMINATIONS OPEN: Penola Lions Club secretary Mick Matuschka and president Peter Muller are encouraging the local community to nominate a worthy resident as senior of the year.

SENIOR citizens will soon be celebrated in Penola with planning for the Penola Lions Club’s annual Seniors Lunch Day well under way.

The day will celebrate the importance of senior citizens in local communities as part of Seniors Month, with the club providing a free luncheon at the Penola Bowls Club on October 27.

Celebrating the life and dedication of community seniors, Penola Lions Club president Peter Muller said the event aimed to repay older residents who have dedicated their time to the community.

“We always do this through a luncheon with no charge to the seniors,” Mr Muller said.

“We look forward to their company each and every year.”

Alongside the luncheon, the local Lions Club will pay tribute to one senior on Australia Day 2020 with the annual senior of the year award nominations open.

Nomination forms are available at the John Riddoch Visitor Information Centre.

Entries for the nominations close on October 25 with the community encouraged to get nominating.
