Second KFC underway

MOUNT Gambier’s fast-food landscape continues to take flight with a second Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) being built on the city’s northern gateway.

The store – which will have a four-lane drive-through design – will be located adjacent the Woolworths Petrol Station at the Mount Gambier Marketplace site.

Two lanes will be used exclusively for online orders.

According to statement released to The Border Watch yesterday, the new store will employ around seven full-time staff as well as 40 casual employees.

“The design will be a four lane drive through, two lanes with a normal speaker order system and two lanes which will be exclusively for app users to encourage pre-ordering before driving to the store.,” the spokesperson said.

“There will also be a small walk up area with two kiosks for ordering.”

The spokesperson said the company believed there was a “need for a second store” in Mount Gambier.

According to the development application lodged with Mount Gambier City Council, the development was expected to cost $1.4m to construct.

The application – which has received development approval – was lodged by The Bird Group.
