LUCKY WINNER: The Border Watch media sales consultant Jake Stafford, 2019 AFL tipping competition winner Terry Scott and Bi-Rite Home Appliances Mount Gambier proprietor Rick Macera.

WHILE his beloved Port Power may have fallen short of finals, Terry Scott has tasted success in the 2019 AFL season, topping The Border Watch’s annual tipping competition.

Mr Scott is now the proud owner of a new television from competition sponsor Bi-Rite Home Appliances Mount Gambier, collecting his prize yesterday.

Correctly selecting eight of the nine winners from Round 23 secured the victory for Mr Scott, who won on a tie-breaker from Karen Dack and James Sullivan – all with 137 tips.

Excited to be crowned the overall winner, Mr Scott said while there was some “hard work” on his behalf, a lot of luck was involved.

“It has been a difficult year with picking and choosing but it all came out alright in the end,” Mr Scott said.

Not looking to give away any secrets to potential challengers, Mr Scott said he had no specific rules when making his selections.

“You can be on top one week and then some days you can just fall quite badly,” he said.

“This year it was a bit touch and go, a lot of people had the same numbers, but it is exciting to finish as a winner.”

Mr Scott thanked Bi-Rite Mount Gambier proprietor Rick Macera for his continued support and prize.

“We hope that people will continue to support Rick in the same way Rick supports the community,” Mr Scott said.

“We really appreciate the final prize and hope we will be here again next year.”
