A GARBAGE truck had to be freed from a hole which formed in a Mount Gambier car park yesterday morning, swallowing the vehicle’s right rear wheels.
A crane was used to pull the Veolia truck from the hole, which opened during the vehicle’s usual Monday morning schedule.
The safety hazard was cordoned off in the car park – which serves Red Rooster, Jetts and headspace among other businesses – to prevent further damage.
It is not currently known what caused the hole to form in the car park, which is a private asset.
