THE Mount Gambier TAFE SA campus may join other Tafe facilities across the state in opening its doors to independent training providers in a bid to boost high-quality training for students.
TAFE SA has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA – SA) that will ensure the organisations work together to foster areas of collaboration.
TAFE SA chief executive David Coltman said a closer relationship would ensure local education and training needs are being met.
“The signed agreement could see independent training providers delivering directly from TAFE SA campus in the South East and other areas,” Mr Coltman said.
“It would also see education providers working together to ensure access and choice are increased in the local VET market.
“We also want to provide key professional development initiatives for involved staff members.”
Mr Coltman said the “important” collaboration would increase the communication between providers and facilities.
“It is critical, training providers work together to focus on learner success and ensure we are meeting the state’s future skill requirements.”
