Adelaide couple arrested at mill

AN ADELAIDE couple were apprehended by police at the Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill on Friday morning after allegedly trying to steal copper.

Millicent Police attended the manufacturing business on Glens Lane, Tantanoola just before 7.30am after a report of a suspicious vehicle and detained the pair.

It is alleged they cut fencing in an attempt to gain entry to a significant amount of copper wire stored at the site.

A 43-year-old man and 33-year-old woman from the inner suburb of Kilburn were arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises and property damage.

They were also charged with property damage and theft relating to offences alleged to have occurred at Paskeville in September last year.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Friday.

Millicent police officer in charge Senior Sergeant First Class Rick Errington said officers are reviewing footage from the Millicent Mill’s closed-circuit security cameras as part of their investigations.

KCA Millicent Mill management has been approached for comment.
