WOMEN in business are encouraged to nominate for the bi-annual Influential Women in Business Awards launched Friday in the Green Triangle region.

Hosted by Women in Business and Regional Development (WiBRD), the awards recognise community leaders, innovators, mentors and dedicated employees who are making a difference.

The awards provide opportunity for personal and business development for not only the winners but also nominees.

Those who enter the awards will be in the running for more than $10,000 worth of prizes with a strong focus on personal and business development.

Categories include businesswoman of the year, best business (over five employees), best small business (five and under employees), entrepreneur of the year, employee of the year and community leader.

In 2017, more than 100 nominations were received across the five award categories and even more is expected in 2019.

WiBRD chair Jacinta Jones said the awards were a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate outstanding women in our community.

“As women we are often shy about celebrating the contribution we make in business whether it be as an employee, a business owner or a community leaders,” Ms Jones said.

“We encourage everyone to nominate women they admire and to consider nominating themselves as well.”

The award presentation gala dinner will be held at The Barn Palais on August 9.

The night is anticipated to be a huge celebration of regional women, with more than 550 people from across the Limestone Coast and Western Victoria attending the 2017 awards.

Award nominations officially launched Friday giving women the opportunity to nominate themselves or women they know.

Award nominations close on June 25 – nominations can be made on the WiBRD website.
