A MOTORCYCLE rider was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries after crashing his bike in the Blue Lake city Thursday afternoon.

The incident – which involved no other vehicles – occurred at around 3.30pm on the corner of James Street and Wehl Street South.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene where the 62-year-old male rider was carefully placed on a stretcher and transferred to a nearby ambulance.

He was transported to the Mount Gambier Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Limestone Coast Police officer in charge Superintendent Phil Hoff said it was an important reminder about the vulnerability of motorcyclists.

“Motorcyclists are the most vulnerable people on our roads and we remind people to ride carefully throughout the region.”
