Early arrival an unexpected surprise for city couple ahead of Mother’s Day

AN early arrival will mean one new Mount Gambier mother will celebrate Mother’s Day for the first time on Sunday.

Abhinav Aby was welcomed into the world by parents Aby Thombrakudy Thankappan and Neethu Kuzhinikathil Sajeevan on Sunday, almost three weeks premature.

Neethu said the early arrival was an unexpected surprise.

“It is exciting I will be able to spend Mother’s Day with him as we were not expecting him until the end of this month,” she said.

“It happened quite suddenly with little complications.

“I would have liked a bit more time to prepare but that is okay.”

Neethu said she was already enjoying the experience of being a mum with Abhinay her first child.

Aby said he hoped Neethu would be discharged in time to celebrate Mother’s Day at home.

“As Abhinav was premature we have to be careful but he is getting better day by day,” he said.

“We are also looking forward to taking him to India when he grows up to meet his other family.

“We have many rituals so he will be able to enjoy it all.”

Neethu said she might have to share Mother’s Day celebrations with Abinav due to his birthday falling close to the occasion.

“I think he will be a mum’s boy,” she said.

“He is also born on World Midwifery Day so it was also a special day for those which delivered him.

“I think our family and friends are all eager to meet him so I think they will all come and say hello on the day.”

Aby’s sister gave birth in Adelaide two days before Neethu, with the wider family thrilled to have two new members.
