Special guests share war stories with Penola students

Penola High Anzac Day TBW Newsgroup
SPECIAL GUESTS: Special guests, Roen Lynn, with Ceremony Organiser Miriam Williams and Peter DeGaris who attended the Penola High School’s Anzac Day ceremony.

ANZAC Day was recognised at Penola High School during its final week of the school term.

Students shared biographies of four local men who served in various battles across Europe as well as two war related poems.

Roen Lynn as well as Coonawarra Penola RSL president Peter DeGaris shared memories with students and teachers.

Mr Lynn is one of three surviving World War II veterans within the district.

He spoke of his memories in New Guinea during and after the World War II, enthralling the staff and students in his personal journey.

The school then moved to the quadrangle for the laying of a wreath and recited the Ode.

Their ceremony finished with the playing of the Last Post along with a minute silence and playing of the Rouse.
