ALL hands have been on deck at a local supermarket in the lead up to Good Friday, with many customers snapping up seafood and marking the day as “meat free”.
Foster’s Foodland manager Dave Foster said fish sales generally increased by around 10 times for the four-day Easter weekend with local seafood proving to be a popular choice.
“We source pretty much all of our seafood locally,” he said.
“Gummy shark, which we order in from Southend has been a popular choice this Easter, as has Coorong Mullet from Meningie and Barramundi from Robe.
“At least a day is spent cutting all of the seafood up.
“There is also the time we put into organising it and ordering it three weeks before.
“We were lucky to have local fish, which is fresh and straight off the boat.”
Other local businesses would be experiencing an influx in sales particularly for Easter eggs, hot cross buns and other gifts and goodies.
Shops will be closed tomorrow to mark Good Friday and the vast majority will also be closed on Easter Monday.
