REPAIRS to a taxiway at Mount Gambier Regional Airport are now complete following works on the infrastructure in recent weeks.

According to Grant District Council, the upgrade of taxiway A1 is now finalised.

Runways 11/29 and 18/36 are connected to the apron area via taxiway A1, facilitating movement of the aircraft between runways and the terminal/hanger areas.

Repairs were needed following damage to the pavement from the movement of aircraft wheels.

Three separate section repairs were undertaken during the works, which was partially funded through a $12,000 allocation from the State Government.

The project was one of three projects undertaken at the regional airport since 2016, as a result of this funding scheme.

These projects included a car park upgrade for hire cars and automatic security gates for emergency services to access air-side areas.

The works come ahead of the planned multi-million dollar redevelopment of the airport.
