BRAVE SHAVE: Mount Gambier teenager Bianca is all smiles as Vince Vinci trims her plaits with a knife as part of a Leukaemia Foundation fundraiser.

MOUNT Gambier teenager Bianca took a brave step for the Leukaemia Foundation over the weekend.

Losing her locks for charity, Bianca raised over $1000, with additional funds from tins spread around the Mount Gambier Marketplace yet to be counted.

Held Saturday at Hairhouse Warehouse, Bianca split her hair into a handful of plaits which were coloured and cut by marketplace trader Vince Vinci who donated money to the cause to trim Bianca’s plaits with a kitchen knife.

The braids were then coloured, cut and auctioned to the public, fetching between $5 and $25 towards the charity.

During the day, community members were able to have their hair coloured for a $10 donation, or they could also shave their head for a $20 donation.

Still counting the total, Bianca encouraged others to donate and participate in fundraising activities in the future.
