A MAN and a woman from Kingston have died following a horrific crash where two vehicles burst into flames near Lucindale yesterday afternoon.

Police and emergency services were called to Lucindale Road at around 12.45pm after reports that a van and an SUV collided.

The crash sparked a fire which incinerated both vehicles.

Two people travelling in the SUV, a 60-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both from Kingston, died at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 35-year-old man from Naracoorte, was taken to the local Naracoorte Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He was arrested and charged today with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was bailed to appear in the Naracoorte Magistrates Court on 10 May.

Lucindale Road was closed to all traffic while Major Crash investigators examined the crash site and vehicles.

The two deaths bring the State’s road toll to 24 compared to 15 at the same time last year.
