Mill pay talks held

MEMBERS of the largest union at the Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill held three mass meetings about their latest pay offer this week.

It is understood the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union members gathered behind closed doors at the Millicent RSL Hall at 3pm and 7pm on Tuesday and at 7.30am Wednesday.

Federal and local CFMEU officials were expected to seek feedback from the members on the enterprise bargaining negotiations and they have since not been available for comment.

The South Eastern Times has been told there is still disquiet among sections of the workforce.

Late last year, over 53pc of the mill workforce voted against the company’s offer of a 4.5pc pay rise and a $1000 cash offer.

This prompted both KCA and the CFMEU to make separate applications to the Fair Work Commission for conciliation.

The company then revised its offer to the 260 CFMEU members.

Rank-and-file KCA employees have not had a pay rise since 2014.
