MORE than 40 Tenison Woods College staff members joined thousands of fellow teachers, school staff, parish leaders and priests at the Catholic Education South Australia Live Learn Lead – Together event.
Held last week at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, the South East was well represented by college staff and South East parish priest Dean Marin at the event, which attracted around 5500 people from across the state.
A number of key speakers presented various segments throughout the day which centred around Catholicism and education.
Among the presenters was highly-sought after speaker Robyn Moore who told the audience to “be a promise keeper” throughout her Power of the Word speech.
“Together we teach 46,000 young souls,” she said.
“Be beyond informed to transform and make everything the first time.
“Have an abundance of joy.”
Ms Moore told the audience they were the “authors to the next chapter.”

Catholic Education South Australia assistant director Monica Conway said there were many inspirational moments that came from the day.
“My intent is this will be a day you will never ever forget as long as you live,” she said.
Tenison Woods College principal David Mezinec said the day saw staff seeking strong benefits for the colleges’ students.
“This day was an integral part of our lead in to the 2019 school year,” he said.
“Our staff are inspired and have been given some excellent insights to help them be the best educators they can be for our students.
“This year our theme is shine in 2019 and we will take a deep dive into what it means to shine using our understanding of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute’s Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment (PERMA+) well-being framework.”
Mr Mezinec said the focus on shine would help the school community understand the “essence of well-being” and “leading a fulfilled life.”
“As part of our deliberate focus on student well-being each student will have two homegroup teachers from Year 8 to 11.
“Our Year 10 to 12 homegroup teachers will progress with students to facilitate connection and support.”
Students at the college were given a staggered start this week with the Reception, Year 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12 students starting yesterday and all other year levels and the Poplars Inclusive Education Students starting today.
